The Grass is Greener is a project geared towards Baltimore City youths ages 6-18 that will provide instruction in all areas of the arts; such as Art, Dance, Theater, and Music. Students will be placed in thier appropriate age groups, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18 with 50 students in each group. This summer long project gives Baltimore City youths from troubled or low income families the opportunity to understand and embrace the concept that one doesn’t have to attend an expensive arts school in order to express their individual talents in a positive manner. During this project students will learn the fundamentals, properties, and the development of their particular talent; under the instruction and guidance of 16 teachers/artist of their specific area discipline; 4 teachers to a group, one of each discipline. The project will result in four mini productions, one for each age group; and will be concluded by one major production.
The goal of The Grass is Greener is to enlighten Baltimore’s talented youths and artist. This project will benefit the patrons and community by:
• One professional artist per group
• Five advance level students will serve as apprentices to the artist
and teaching aids to students
• All students will participate in the major show at the Hippodrome
which will run a week long; creating exposure to the students as
well as the program
